Types of NDIS Capacity Building Support Categories
There are nine sub-categories of Capacity Building Supports, each tailored to a different aspect of personal development and independence:

How Is Capacity Building Funding Allocated?
Unlike Core Supports, which are more flexible, Capacity Building budgets are allocated to specific categories. Participants cannot move NDIS funding between categories (e.g., you can’t use “Improved Daily Living” funds for “Finding and Keeping a Job”). It’s important to work with your Support Coordinator or Plan Manager to understand what’s available in each category and how to make the most of it.
Who Provides Capacity Building Supports?
Registered NDIS providers deliver most Capacity Building supports. These may include:
- Occupational therapists
- Psychologists
- Employment mentors
- Dietitians
- Physiotherapists
- Behaviour specialists
- Support Coordinators
- Plan Managers
Working with a team of experienced providers ensures your supports align with your goals and are delivered in line with NDIS guidelines.
