Core Supports are a category of NDIS funding designed to assist participants with the basic tasks of daily life. This includes support with personal care, transport, accessing essential items, and getting involved in community activities.
Unlike other funding categories, Core Supports are highly flexible. They allow participants to move their budget across different sub-categories (unless otherwise stated in their plan) based on what they need at any given time.

No, funding allocated to each Capacity Building category is specific to that category and cannot be transferred between categories. For instance, funds designated for “Improved Learning” cannot be used for “Improved Health and Wellbeing.”
Yes, all purchases must meet the NDIS criteria of being “reasonable and necessary” and directly related to your disability. Items or services not aligned with these criteria, such as non-disability-related expenses, are not covered.
During your NDIS planning meeting, you’ll discuss your personal goals and aspirations. Based on this discussion, your planner will determine which Capacity Building Supports align with your objectives. It’s essential to communicate your goals clearly to ensure appropriate supports are included in your plan.
If your circumstances or goals change, you can request a plan review to adjust your Capacity Building Supports accordingly. It’s important to provide evidence of the change in circumstances and how the requested supports will assist in achieving your updated goals.
